Gift Annuity Alternative

How it Works

  • You transfer cash.

  • A highly-rated annuity company pays you, or up to two annuitants you name, fixed income for life.

  • An immediate cash gift is made to the Incarnate Word Academy Foundation.

Note

  • Beneficiaries must be at least 55 at the time of the gift.

  • Incarnate Word Academy Foundation minimum transfer amount requirement is $25,000.

Benefits

  • You receive dependable, fixed income for life in return for your gift.

  • In many cases, you increase the yield you are currently receiving from stocks or CDs.

  • You receive an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your gift.

  • A portion of your annuity payment will be tax free.

  • You make a significant gift to benefit the school.

Gift Annuity: The Details

  • You can make a gift and receive guaranteed fixed payments for life.

  • Payments may be much higher than your return on low earning securities or CDs.

Is this gift right for you?

A gift annuity is for you if:

  • You want to make a significant gift to the Incarnate Word Academy Foundation and receive lifetime payments in return.

  • You want to maximize the payments you receive from your planned gift — and you want to lower your income tax on those payments.

  • You want the security of payment amounts that won't fluctuate during your lifetime.

  • You appreciate the safety of your payments being a general financial obligation of a highly-rated annuity company.

  • You like the idea of supplemental income you can't outlive.

Of all the gifts that pay you back, the gift annuity alternative is the simplest, most affordable, and most popular. You make a gift to The Incarnate Word Academy Foundation and, in return, you receive fixed payments for life. The gift annuity alternative agreement is a simple contract between you and an annuity company. Your payments become one of the annuity company’s obligations, fully backed by all of its assets, and will not fluctuate.

Charitable Gift Annuities Offer Attractive Tax Benefits

  • You will receive a federal income tax deduction.

  • Part of each annuity payment will be treated as tax-free return of your principal. This effectively increases the yield from your charitable gift annuity over your life expectancy.

Planning Points

  • A gift annuity at the school can be created with a gift of $25,000 or more.

  • Charitable gift annuities bring the benefits of a life income gift into reach for many donors.

  • Your charitable gift annuity can make payments to a maximum of two people.

  • Charitable gift annuity rates are partly determined by the age of the income beneficiary.
